Hello ! I launch this blog out of my love and respect for America's wildlife and my deep frustration of feeling helpless in preventing it's demise. I believe there are thousands, perhaps millions, of Americans who feel similar feelings as forests, wetlands, prairies, and other wild places are plowed and bulldozed into oblivion.
I was born and raised in small town Iowa, and as a child developed a deep love for the wildlife around me. As an adult, I have watched the wildlife and plants I learned to love as a child become more rare with each passing year. As an adult, I feel helpless watching wild things I treasure disappear.
My frustration stems from the fact that despite all of the pro-environmental/conservation rhetoric in this country today, the future of America's wildlife and wild places remains hopelessly bleak.
I believe the time has come for a true grassroots effort to spring forward to stop the demise of the wildlife and wild places we love and cherish. This grassroots effort will be on the local and personal level. Not counting on government agencies or celebrity endorsements.
I would like to use this blog to express my ideas for this grassroots effort and allow others to do the same.
